What To Do If You Find a Fallen Baby Bird or Nest

Encountering a Fallen Wild Baby Bird– Do you ever come across a baby bird in when you are walking in the park? It might be a heartbreaking to come across a small baby bird that may be separated from its mother.

A lot of questions will run through your mind. What should you do? Return the bird to its nest? Or you try to find the mother? Do you necessary to touch the bird?

A lot of people think that they should take the small bird to a shelter or animal rescue place.

If you think that you are assisting, this can be unlawfully kidnapping in the bird world. You need to learn on how to differentiate between a situation that needs your assistance or one that you can let the bird left alone, which one is important. Birds don’t always need us to intervene when they seem to have been lost from their parents.

Determine How Old Is the Bird

First, you need to determine if the baby bird is a nestling or a fledgling before you decide what to do with it. Nestlings birds don’t have feathers. You can see it from their pink skin which is delicate, also they reqired the protection of the nest. Fledglings are young small birds that can’t fly well however they have outgrown the nest.

A fledgling birds can hop around on the ground and look like they are confused. It may even looked injured as it flaps its wings without flying.

However, it doesn’t mean that it needs human help. Ussually its parents are very close by. If you are approaching a fledgling, its parents may or may not make themselves known. Sometimes, the adult birds will not react if you get close to their small baby.

See If It Is an Emergency

The winds conditions may caused the nests out of trees or nestlings out of their home. When you find a nestling on the ground and can see the nest, simply put the bird back where it is. If the nest is missing, you can try to assemble one for the birds.

Try to cut holes for drainage in a small plastic container, and fill it with material from the bird’s fallen home. If you cannot locate the original bird nest material, you can put a clean towels or paper cloth inside the bin. Try to avoid using terry cloth. Birds may catch their beaks inside the loops. Put the makeshift nest container in the tree which is closest to the place in the area you found the baby bird.

A lot of cases, the mother birds will come back to her infant. Monitor your homemade nest for signs that the mother already returned.

She will not leave the baby if the nest smells like humans; however it is only a myth.
